Need help finding a bariatrician
I had my surgery May 30, 2006 and have had many problems since. At this point, I refuse to see my surgeon or anyone in his office again. I purchased a copy of Weight Loss Surgery for dummies yesterday (wish I had this book months ago) and they recommend seeing a bariatrician for follow-up. I can't seem to find one in the Atlanta area. Can anyone recommend one?
The only one I know of is Dr Lynch and he is associated with the Emory program and that is who your surgeon is affliated with. Most surgeons won't take on another surgeons patients.
What types of problems are you experiencing? Maybe your regular pcp could help.
Good luck to you. It's very frustrating to be having problems and not know where to turn to.

Dr. Lin tried to send me to Dr. Lynch but he is even further from me than Emory Crawford Long is. I wish someone had told me from the beginning that I would be expected to go somewhere else for follow-up care.
I've had continuous urinary tract problems since about a month after surgery. Dr. Lin's solution was "just drink more". My PCP finally sent me to a urologist and they are running tests to try and find the cause. I am also now having problems with a severe potassium deficiency. I had to have bloodwork done for my insurance at work and they found the pot. def. I had bloodwork done at Emory at my 2 month appt but no one could be bothered to call me with the results so I'm not sure how long this has been going on.
I've given up on getting help from Emory. If they return a phone call it takes 2-3 days at best. The last two appts I had up there we waited over 2 hours past our appt time to see the doctor. My husband was fit to be tied! Then when we finally get in the Dr. was rushed and I felt like we were getting the brush off.
I'm afraid I won't be able to find another practice to take me since I didn't have the surgery with them. I have an appt with my PCP in the morning for potassium def., he is good but his specialty is not bariatrics. I'm also having a hard time getting Emory to send him any of my records from the surgery so he is kind of working blind. I'll see what he has to say in the morning.
