I just found out that the Dr I was interested in (Dr Henderson) has changed his policies and is asking for 4900 dollars up front out of pocket for tricare policy holders. I need recommendations for surgeons in S. Ga or N. Fla who accept tricare and don't need money out of pocket(besides fees for psych. & nut. exam). Any help?

Sorry Jasmine, I don't have any advice, he's the one I used, and I had tricare...I think I just sent you an email. I was on vacation for 3 weeks...did you ask the office if you could make payments? I was there today and he seemed like he would work with his pat...good luck...Cheri

I'm sure we could make payments, one of the ladies from the brunswick/st mary's support group told me they would, I just can't see myself paying 5000 dollars for something my insurance is supposed to pay for. Thankfully I have found another surgeon from Ocala, FL who is as highly recommended as Dr. Henderson and who is recomended also by Tricare and will not charge me any money (besides the psych fee and things like that). It's much further away, but worth it!

Dr John Angstadt @ Memorial Bariatrics in Savannah accepts Tricare (Standard and Prime). The Health Benefits Advisor @ the Tricare office at Kings Bay (Her contact info is at the bottom) also provided me with the following info: If you have Kings Bay Clinic as your PCM then have the dr write an internal referral to NavHosp Jacksonville Gen Surg for they do it as well, but they have a criteria as well (I have a copy of that too). NavHosp Jax will not accept referrals from Civilian pcm's. NavHosp Jax does have a waiting list, time frame I do not know. Also, the Army hosp (Eisenhower) can do this as well. Their waiting list is about a year long. HBA, NBHC Kings Bay, GA ph# 912-573-4228 Good luck!!!
