New To Group
I am new to this group and this is my first posting. I have been reading posts by other members for about a year. I am scheduled for surgery on 7-25. I have already started walking and trying to eat a low carb diet. However, I am having a major battle in my head between "preparing myself for surgery by beginning to eat properly" and "eating all my favorite foods just one more time". Can others give me suggestions regarding which side to listen to. Thanks!
Trisha,
I understand what you mean. Just do what you know is the best. But I have to admit I had my "last supper" at my favorite resturant the week before my surgery. I just couldn't resist. (I know bad Lea). But I would try and stick with the low carb.
I wish you the best of luck and prayer for a speedy recovery.
See you on the happy and healthy side,
Lea Lewis
Hey Trisha
i live in douglasville also!
i know what you mean about the "last time i can have these foods" feelings, i had them also. Yes i did eat alot the week before i had surgery.. i ate things that i knew i wouldn't be able to eat for a long time again.. i know i was baaaaaaaaaaad.. but it tasted so good!!! i am 6 months post op and down -95 lbs.
where do you walk at a park or in your neighborhood? i would love to have a walking partner!
Good luck! and we will see you on the LOSING side soon!

Welcome to non-lurker status
My only advice would be do as we say not as we do (well I did lol). I went through the "omg I will never be able to eat this again phase" right before surgery and ate all sorts of bad things. And you know what? For me at least, there is nothing I cannot eat now that I ate before. So it really wasn't needed. Just do the best you can and try to make better choices than I did preop. Best of luck to you!

Trisha,
Welcome to a wonderful group. I had my surgery on 6/21/06, and I am doing fine. I do not know if your doctor wanted you to stick to a low carb meal until surgery or not. The reason the doctor puts you on low carb is so that your liver will not be as heavy when they operate; it helps the surgeon out as well as the patient.
I hope you have a speedy recovery. See you on the other side.
