I'm in the same situation with the GA state merit ins. thru UHC. I'm trying to find out more myself. My e-mail is [email protected]. Please reply to this e-mail and we might could help each other with any info either of us might get. Give your dad this e-mail as well, and I can update him as to what I find out. This is an e-mail that I've sent to several people. I'm curious about your insurance situation. I have UHC through the state merit system of GA, and everytime I call the insurance co, they say that bariatric surgery is excluded from our plan, even if it is for morbid obesity with multiple co-morbidities. Are you by chance a Ga educator with this same insurance and insurance policy. Is there hope for them to pay for this surgery even if the telephone "help" continues to say it's excluded from the plan? Let me know if you're an educator with this same insurance coverage. I have the High Option Plan, that costs out the ying-yang.

Robert, I wish that I had some good news for you...but, from what I have heard by members posting on this board, is that unless your employer specifically includes bariatric surgery in its plan, then it is not a covered procedure. State of GA does NOT specifically includes it in its plan. So sorry... Norma
