:help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help::help: :help: :help::help: :help: :help: We need advice. At the rate my niece is gaining weight we are seriously worried about her. We believe she weighs in excess of 500 pounds and stands just 5' 2". Obvioulsy this didn't happen overnight but it's got to stop. She has only recently been open to the idea of help. She has had no real support system outside of her mother (who is IMHO part of the lifetime problem that my niece is now faced with) That, however is really neither here nor there at the moment, the only concern we have right now is which direction should she (can she) take. We do know that this is not a thyroid problem, she was checked for that just recently and everything was okay, but she has no money, no insurance, and a mentally challenged 6 year old son who needs his mother to live and, frankly; in her present condition she is pretty much a heart attack waiting to happen Any help would be appreciated. :help:

Can she apply for medicaid? Where exactly is she located? Does she have a job? Take her to DFACS and have her apply for Medicaid and get her started on the process with a PCP. Hugs, HTH Heather

I agree with Heather, take her and have her apply for medicaid.. they pay for the surgery. Our prayers are with her! Love Tammy

Is she disabled? At that weight- Social Security Disability could apply if she is disabled from the weight. But it may take a long time to get. I agree with the others- See if Medicaide can help her.

Hi Cub, I don't have any new suggestion other that of the medicaid, just wanted you to know my heart goes out to you and your niece. I hope something can be done to help her in some capacity very soon. God Bless....
