Deductable.... did anyone else know...
I have Hummana PPO and my Ins deductable is $1,000.00. Crappy, I know but I guess it's better than nothing. So anyway's I have been approved for the surgery (Lap RNY) for 5/23/06. But today I received a phone call from the pre-registration office @ North Fulton Hospital in Alpharetta GA saying that I have to pay my deductable when I go to pre-op!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I about pooped my pants. They give me one week and one day to find out how in the heck I'm going to get a $1,000.00 by the time I have to go to pre-op on 5/18 (next Thursday)!!!!!!! I have bills to pay and if I had known this previously then I could have saved the money up by now. So make sure you ask about this before you have the surgery unless you just have plenty of money to play with. I have been bummed out all day and I can not even focus on anything else but finding a way to get up the money by next Thursday. I need prayer please. Any encourging words maybe????????????
Thanks!

I found out about 9 days before my surgery that I had to pay the doctor what I would owe before he would operate... This happened to be my annual out of pocket expense.... I had already put out nearly half of the $3000, and had to come up with $1700... in just a few days.... I called my mom in tears.... it took so long to finally get approved, and then that... She cashed in a CD for me, and I had to then give her most of my income tax return to pay it back... Luckily my surgery was in December, and I always have my income tax refund by the end of January...
Just know that things almost always manage to come out the way they should... Keep up your spirits, it'll happen somehow
Hugs,
Susan
Call the financial office and see if you can set up a payment plan. While I don't have a deductible on my policy, I thought I was going to pay 20% of the hospital fees. I kept waiting for the money call and was prepared with cash in hand on surgery day just in case. The only hospital fee I ended paying was $70 ( which I still believe is the difference between semi and private room but the hospital swears it was not!).
Good luck!
