the band you got, was it a lap band, the kind that need to be filled, etc? Would you day "mechanical" applies to my stoma being stretched due to 4 endoscopies? What kind of insurance do you have? You are so kind to put up with my questions.
Topic: RE: fobi addition
My original surgery was done lap but the second was done open. I do know that some surgeons will complete a revision lap. But many time if you have had previous surgeries there may be a great deal of scarred tissue as well as other issues and therefore what you may have thought was going to lap will end up open in the end. Also, I must say that my scar from my open procedure is healing up very nicely and it has not even been a month. Matter of fact I recently went to another doctor and they thought the incision was from my first surgery.

No my original surgeon does not do revisions. My insurance did pay for it because I was able to show that there was mechanical issues.

Did insurance pay for it? Did your same RNY surgeon do it? Did he have experience doing it? Was it done laparoscopically? Thanks.

Yes, the silastic ring that is added when the Fobi RNY is done cane be added after a standard RNY. It is considered a revision surgery. I recently had this done after I started regaining weight due to a stretched stoma.
Topic: Hello, I need assistance
I had my surgery 7 years ago, I lost close to 250 lbs after weighing close to 400 lbs, I had the Fobi pouch. Protein does not sit well with me, the only protein I am able to eat is hamburger meat, cottage cheese, and regular cheese, as far as carbs, I can eat all of that and that is my downfall. Chicken sucks, among other protein such as steak, pork chops, I just can't stand the taste of it and does not agree with me, even if I try to take teeny tiny bites. I have maintained a considerable weight loss, but at the rate I am going I don't want to get back to what I used to weigh. My question is how can I lose the weight that I gained, I need HELP before it's too late. Also, would like to know if anybody out there knows of a good website or cookbook that I can purchase and follow the recipes. Need all the feedback I can get.

Hi Kimberly,
Saw your message, after 7 years of having surgery. It took me a long time too. I don't really enjoy eating certain foods to this day, pork chops, the texture just doesn't agree with me, even if I take little bites. I don't really care to eat steak or pork chops. Just eat to what agrees with you. When I had the surgery, 3 months later I was invited to go on a 3 day cruise to Ensenada. I was not able to eat what everyone else was eating like lobster, crab legs, shrimp. I had fruit and vegies, but that didn't stop me from having fun. My way of thinking now, is I never want to go back. I have gained some weight now, and now I am looking to losing that weight.

I just came across your message, please don't. This is only a temporary feeling, and think back how really miserable you were before you made the decision to have it done in the first place. Please don't reverse it, you have so much to look forward to. I had my surgery 7 years ago, and before I had my surgery I told myself, if its my time to go, its time to go, but it wasn't my time yet. Well it's been 7 years later and it was the best decision I ever made in my entire life. I turned my life around, changed career (I am still working on that). It was an important and good decision that let to other good decisions. When you feel good and think straight you tend to make better choices. Don't do something you regret. There were a lot of times and cir****tances I told myself, gee I wish I could of done that or told my self, I could do that. Not any more, whether I was overweight or not, losing a majority of my weight just got me thinking more clearer, it is time to live and be the best person I can be. I have some minor complications even after 7 years, but there are ways of dealing with them or take a different approach and take care of them. Tell your doctor how you feel but it really shouldn't be a reason to go back to the way you were. Be good to yourself and take care.
