Topic: What is that white circle thingy on my X-Ray

1+ years ago, i had (what I thought) was RNY. Today I had an X-ray done at the Chiro's office and was surprised to see a white circle aroud the area where my stomach is. I have e-mailed my dr's office, so I hope to hear from them, but I'm not expecting it. Is it possible that I had a FOBI? I have done remarkably well with this surgery.. Im a size 4 now!! My docs website (www .gastric band. com) says he only does lapband and RNY. I know I didnt have a lap band since Ihave no port.

Topic: A new way of looking at things...

Some of you may have seen my previous posts re:

What are you doing FOR yourself instead of TO yourself.

Someone recently asked me about that and I told them that this is a relatively new was of looking at things for me as it relates to my choices around food and activity. It has helped me see my glass as half full instead of half empty many times. When I'm thinking in terms of something I want to eat and would otherwise feel 'deprived', when I look at not having something, or having a 'healthier' choice, it is so much easier to do so, when I am choosing that option as doing something 'FOR' myself.

A few of the things I now do FOR myself include:

Going for a walk

Parking in the shade no matter how far away from the store it is

Eating my protein before indulging in carbs

Selecting the grilled over the fried version of whatever I'm choosing to eat

What do you do FOR yourself?

Oh I am not sure about that that is a different procedure, it is a band over bypass.  This is when a band (as in the lap band) is added in addition to your original RNY.  Look at the following site:

http://www.gastric-bypass-guru.com/fobi-pouch.html

I don't want to make you think I have all the answers because I definitely don't; but I think you should also post this question on the Roux en Y forum as well because most fobi post ops post there due to the fact that the surgeries are basically the same if you minus the silastic ring that is added with the fobi.  I am sure you will get a lot more responses there.

Topic: hysterectomy vs gastric bypass
Hi every one,
I am hoping some one can help with a question. I had a hysterectomy May 27th. I did very good with my recouperation. I have had people tell me that it took them weeks or even months to recoup after a hysterectomy. I was feeling really with in a week of surgery. My surgery was done via laperscopic with  incisions. Now for my question, Has any one had both presigers done as will soon.
Is the recouperation from gastric bypass any where near the recouperation from a hysterectomy.

I really would love others womens experiences.

Someone here mentioned that the BOB can create severe GERD.  Had you heard that?

No it's not a band that needs o be filled; a small silastic ring is added in an effort to keep the stoma and pouch from stretching.  The fact that your stoma has stretched could definitely be evidence of mechanical failure.  My insurance carrier is Aetna and they were very easy to work with.  I don't have any problems answering your questions because we have all been there before.  Good luck on your journey!

Topic: RE: Hello, I need assistance
You have stated that carbs are your downfall and that is definitely what you will need to cut out of your diet if you want to loose the weight you have regained.  Protein is going to be extremely important if you want to get back on track.  I have seen many people talk about getting recipes from one of our WLS peers (she had the DS, but the recipes are WLS friendly for all).  her website is http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ .  She even has recipes for protein ice cream which may be a yummy way to get in extra protein for you.
