Topic: Has anyone heard about leaking?
Hi: I have another question for any of you nice folks that had the GBP. I was wondering if you worried about leaking. I was also curious to know if there is a way they check you to see if you are or not. Also, once they sew you up inside is it safe to say it will last for your entire life. IM talking about the leaking again. Could you leak down the road after surgery. if anyone knows I would appreicate your help!! Lisa

Yvonne! After op. you have to eat 6-8 times a day to stay healthy. The best way is to eat much fibers everytime you eat. Fibers goes down slowly in youre system and help you to feel full until you have to eat againe. Personaly I eat every 2-2,5 h. 7-8 times a day. The more fat you ad to youre food the less you can eat. So a plate with low fat food, a lot of fibers, proteins and col. is good for you. Many greetings Hélène Sweden

Topic: Anyone had LAP now RnY/Fobi?
I have a lapband but feel the RnY would have been a better option for me. Can anyone answer these to help me consider: 1. Comparison between each surgery (reg, pain, recovery, complications) 2. Why you had the RnY after Lap? 3. Initial and longer term weight loss? 4. Eating and dietary differences 5. Did you band work by restriction or feeling of fullness? 6. Can you abuse your RnY like you can with a band (choco/icecream etc) 7. How much maintenance does the RnY need in comparison to the lapband? Thanks alot.

Topic: RE: Help!!! Im confused,RNY OR LAPBAND
Hi Mary, I know of two people who have lost 100+ lbs in 9 months with the lapband. However, the lapband is perhaps not the best option for someone with a sweet tooth. Best thing to do is loads of research about both surgeries. Lisa

There is not a special board for the RNYers because they are the most common by far, so they dominate on all of the other boards. You might want to try your state board or the main message board.

Topic: RE: Post Op Question
Sarah, I haven't had the experience yet. But I am leaving for a 4 week vacation to California on Thursday. And I know that I will be going out to eat on many occasions. I will fall back on soups I'm sure. Yes, use the main message board to get your answers. I'm sure that you will get many. I am anxious to know the answer too. Hettie

Topic: RE: Help!!! Im confused,RNY OR LAPBAND
I first considered the LapBand, but went to an informational meeting about both, and decided that I did not have the willpower that is needed to have the LapBand. So I researched and researched about the RNY and decided that RNY would be the way to go. It will be each person's choice. I don't want to persuade you one way or another. Just read up on both procedures and talk to people that have had both. Good luck to you. Hettie
