I have done a lot of research throughout my journey and spent a lot of time talking to my surgeon. We both agree that in the long term for me this will probably be a more effective RNY and minimize regaining of the weight over the years.

Jennifer, I'm from Brazil and had surgery there. My doctor was my cousin, who is one of the best gastric doctors in the country. He is the one who decided for me. He said the lap band requires a lot of follow up (as I was wheeled into the OR the patient before me was just coming out of surgery to change her band that had "popped")and he kind of went over another kind of surgery. I trusted him with my life...so I trusted he knew what was best for me. Paola

Hi Jennifer, I choose the Fobi pouch because of the band. They said it would help with hunger, the band keeps the food in you longer and so you feel full longer (unless you drink liquids with your meal which pushes it through, and then your hungry sooner) But as you get further along you do begin to stretch your pouch and you can eat more years later, and end up gaining A LOT!! I had my surgery four years ago and I have maintained for the last year, but I don't drink when I eat and I NEVER drink anything carbonated. I hope you find a surgery that is good for your needs.
