Hello I know the band you have to work at it to lose the weight, you have to watch your diet and also exercise lots to lose the weight.
RNY, you will vomit , or sleep after eating fatening or sweet stuff.
For me personnaly, the bypass scared me cause the complications, longer time to recuperate etc.
I chose the lap band i had approx 100 pounds to lose this was the best choice for me as per my surgeon.
Im almost 12 weeks ou with 26 pounds lost, Not bad, but i don****ch waht i eat 100% of the time, but I do walk / Jog 5 - 6 deays a week for 1 hours each time.

I love my band, I know it will be a slower weight loss but healthier for me.
hope this helps, both surgeries are a good for wls, u just gotta see how much u wanna lose, how much motivation and if u are wiling to exercise,
TAke care.

I thought first about the Lap Band, but after looking into it I didnt want to always have to go in and get ajustments. Plus I was having surgery in Long Beach CA and I live in Las Vegas NV. The surgeon there Dr Fobi is very well known and I felt confident in him. I wanted something that I couldnt change becasue for example I wanted to go on vacation and eat alot. Im 6 weeks out and have lost 26 pounds. I feel amazing. I do have to take vitamins everyday and had to stay in the hospital for 3 days but I feel alot of doctors recommend the Lap Band because its cheaper if patients need to pay cash for it. Plus its a fast surgery. I would sit down with your doctor and discuss how you feel and what you want as an outcome from surgery. From there just do your research not only talk about that but look into other peoples expirence. I have had NO complications post surgery. I feel great. I do watch what I eat but can eat everything. Little portions go a long way. You do have to learn how to eat and drink again. Takes a little getting used to but its your choice. Im happy with my decision and I think either way you are taking a great first step!!! You will be happy with either choice

After planning my lapband surgery for a year, 2 weeks before my surgery I've decided to to to the bipass. I am 260 pounds. I decided the bipass because I don't want to have to do constant adjustments. If it leaks, slips, erodes they have to go back in and adjus it. I hear a common complaint from lap band pt's that the are ALWAYS hungry. Like the previouse person sd you have to be HIGHLY motivated for the band to work. That means constant, frwquent exercise and monitering EVERYTHING you eat. You ave to decide what is best for you.
