Hi I am in the process of scheduling my WLS and wanted to know the difference between the Banded RNY vs. the Fobi Pouch, Question Mark   .  Does anyone have any statistics on their success as compare to the plain RNY?

Hi, Lynn. The banded RNY and the Fobi are the same procedure, just different names. As the Fobi is a relatively new procedure, there aren't many statistics available. The main reason for the band is to prevent the stoma from stretching, causing long-term weight gain. Otherwise, it should have the same statistics as the standard RNY. Hope this helps! Cy

Just want to mention than I have heard of some people getting a lap-band-over-RNY procedure (often as a revision after weight gain with RNY, but sometimes as a starting procedure).  In which case the band's tightness is adjustable by means of injection of saline solution through a port in the abdomen.

I don't know any statistics about it, though.
