Hi there!

I just came across your post and we have the same surgery date!  I am going to be having the Vertical Sleeve surgery on the 9th! I don't have experience to share but I wanted to wish you luck and let you know you aren't alone.  I am very nervous about the whole process too.  I have never had surgery before but I am so ready to have this one.  The 9th can't get here fast enough!

Good luck and keep in touch!

Hi Everyone

I'm 25 yrs old 250lbs and have chosen to have gastric bypass surgery . As my surgery date gets closer my nerves and anxiety levels are off the charts. i was wondering if any of you could share some of your post op experience with me .

- How much pain were you in ?

- How well you tolerated your liquids ?

- 10 day post op diet ?

- Any helpful tips ?

Little late but.... Florida boards are usually pretty quiet.  Dr. Jawad did my RNY and I was self pay.  His web site is: jawadmd.com.  Look under the Financial tab and his prices are listed.  He has done thousands and operates at a Center of Excellence facility.

Topic: RE: Medicaid
I wonder if the guidelines are the same for Medicaid Share Of Cost. I started with my nutritionist this month and was under the impression that I only had to do a 3 month weight loss program. I go for all of my pre-op procedures next week. Thanks for your insight. And good luck on your surgery.

Ok...I have medicaid (medipass) I had to go to my doctor (family doctor) once a month for 6 months. All that had to be recorded was my height on the 1st visit and my weight each month. My doctor discussed diet and excercise with me and I told her I wanted a referal to a bariatric surgeon. I knew which surgeon I wanted to use so she got me a referal pretty quick. I met with the surgeon for a consultation. After I completed my 6th visit my doctor faxed my records to the surgeon and after my psyc eval they submitted my packet to medicaid. I had an approval within the week. I have my RNY on Jan 3rd!
