Hi Boneca, I appreciate the response.

I think I've decided I'm not going to worry too much about the size, but more about the technique, and that they cut most of the fundus so not as much stretchy part remains.  I hope I'm saying that right... lol... sooo not an expert.

Anyway, thanks again.  Good luck with your surgery at St. Joseph's.  Wishing you well.

Thanks.  My daughter is heading back to classes soon. They have a weigh****chers type support on campus, she thinks, but thought to ask around. I'll let her know. She did not want her car in Orlando..lol

Topic: medicaid (broward co) needing bariatric surgery

I am starting this process all over (again). and I am starting from scratch. I just found a primary care doc who seems agreeable to helping me find the doctors I need. So, to those that have successfully navigated the medicaid nightmare, can you give me your story? The doctors you've seen? Who you can refer me to,  to get this going in the right direction? Currently I am on Care Florida but I can change the HMO (this is an area that I need personal referals for because I didnt know which hmo to chooose!)

The first step is to see which doctors are accepted by your insurance. From there go back to the boards and see who, of those doctors that are accepted, people have been using.
I have tricare prime through the Army, and I am using Dr. Echevarria in Tampa at St. Joseph's Hospital.

I am going to Dr. Echevarria at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa. I don't know if he is an option for you, but he has a very good CV.

I'm pretty much parroting what I'm reading on the forums since I'm at the research/newbie/clueless stage, but apparently this is what I should be looking for in a surgeon.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

Topic: RE: Starting my journey.
Last week I had a hysterectomy. I am now on birth control and my OB/GYN says this should help with my weight loss efforts.
Monday I am going to my bariatric surgeon to schedule my surgery. Tricare has said they require only a letter from my physician saying it is recommended.
The surgeon required that I visit a dietician, fitness consultant and a psychologist. I did that and they all enthusiastically signed off. I was down to 366 but I gained a bit if weight after surgery. (It's perfectly normal) since I am unable to exercise I can only focus only restricting my calories.

Hopefully I will have surgery in the next few weeks.

There is nothing over in that area these days.  We used to have one at the library on Hwy. 50 and it fell apart.  I'm assuming your in the Oviedo area.  Dr. Jawad's group is at ORMC downtown a pain but...maybe you could catch a ride.  My daughter also had the sleeve done, I guess about 2 years ago now.

You may want to post on the RNY board, lots of info on there.  Good luck on your journey!
