Pinellas County Fl Support Group

I am completing my training to host a local OH support group in Pinellas County Florida. I am looking for anyone who would be interested in attending. I have located appropriate meeting facilities in St. Petersburg and Largo. What I really need to know is: 1. Where do you live? 2. How far would you travel to a good meeting? 3. What days and times would be best for you? 4. What meeting content would interest you most? Let's get together and support each other in this lifelong struggle. Don

I'm interested in a OH support group in the Tampa Bay area. I live near downtown Clearwater but travel as far away as Valrico/Dover for a Good Support grouping. I'm having my surgery this coming Wednesday at St.Pete General. The http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/OSSG-SUNCOAST-Tampa-2/ is reconstructing right now as many Old Post-Ops have faded by the wayside. But we meet early in the month on a Sunday afternoon. I also attend not only my surgeon, Dr. Rehnke's RNY support meeting which are close to the last of the month on a Saturday afternoon but attend the Lapbanding meeting in Support of a friend, That's in the evening of the last Wednesday of each month lead by Dr. Baum (Pysch doctor). http://www.obesitynomorefl.com/index.html So otherwise I'd be open to attending just about any time. I do work P/T Thursday and Friday mornings traveling to the Plant City areas. The rest of the time is exercising at the Clearwater YMCA and relaxing. Relaxing soon to be replaced with lots of Walking. Like to the Y instead of driving the one mile, if that. I read several of the OH boards too. So let us know what your planning? Don, I won't make any promises, because I don't even fully support my surgeon's support groups, but get us the informations and depending on when the meetings are, I will try to make some of them. Steve

Hey Don, I used to live in Seminole, on Magnolia Drive, off of Starkey Road!! I sure wish I still lived over there, I'm in Miami now. If I ever travel over that way I'll be sure to see if a meeting is planned around that time. I still have a dear good friend that lives in Largo. I am the Bariatric Coordinator at Morton Plant Mease and while we have monthly support groups I know that some of our post-ops would really like to meet more often and this would be a great thing. Hi Don, count me in. I will be banded next month. I live in Dunedin and will be riding with Mike Eak to support meetings, so whatever days and times he mentioned go for me also.

Hi Don, I live in Lutz and would drive to Larog area for a meeting. Any day or time is good for me. I am 3 years post op and was never able to attend my surgeons support group meetings because he is 3 1/2 hrs from here. I REALLY could use a support group. Thanks for your hard work! Terese

Hi Don, I am a little late responding to your post. However, I wanted to let you know that my two sister who are post op and myself being preop, would be very interested in an OH support group. I live in Dade City, one sister lives in Zephyrhills and the other sister lives in St. Pete. We would all be willing to travel into Tampa for a OH support group. As for days and times the only thing we would hope for is an evening time after 6. If you do get one started please let us know. All three of us will have had different surgeons with different support groups so it would be nice to have one that all three of us could attend. Thanks, Patty

It's never too late. I will complete my training on 5/31. In the mean time I am lining up suitable sites and working on the content of the meetings. Don
