I am having such a terrible time finding a doctor in the Ft. Lauderdale area that accepts Tricare Prime. Does anyone know of a good Bariatric Surgeon here in the Ft. Lauderdale area??? I would be so happy if someone could help me out.

Angela- I would get the list of surgeons from the ASBS and start calling. When you find out which ones take Tricare then come back here and see if anyone has used them. I know a couple of years back when I first started looking into WLS and was thinking about the RNY I was having a hard time finding a surgeon that I was comfortable with that took Tricare. We have Tricare Standard, so we have a few more choices than Tricare Prime. Please choose carefully and check out your surgeon with the state and by doing internet searches. I have since decided to have the DS and there are no surgeons in Florida that do the DS. The reason I am suggesting doing a search at the ASBS website rather than relying on the surgeon list here is that the surgeon list on OH is not complete. There are surgeons in the state that are not on the OH list. Plus at least if a doctor is a regular member of the ASBS you know that his credentials and qualifications to perform the surgery have been checked. However, because you are Tricare Prime you may find you will have an easier time finding an in-network surgeon if you look near one of the military installations in Florida. The closest one would be Patrick AFB in Melbourne and then the next closest would probably either be the Navy Base In Jacksonville or MacDill AFB in Tampa.
