I just went to Dr. Jawad's Consultation.....
I went to the Consultation meeting for Dr. Jawad's office on Friday and I have to say this is the firm for me! His office is over 200 miles from my home, but my family and I agree that it will be worth the drive. I went to the WLS Seminar in Pt. Charlotte and talked with staff and others at the Naples Cleveland Clinic and although I though each of those places are closer to my home and have wonderful people, it was Dr. Jawad's office that made me feel the best about this surgery and the processes that follow.
Well the process is now truly starting for me. I will begin making the appointments on Monday for the GI, Ultrasound, Nutritionist, and head Doc. I am feeling good about this, and my wonderful family is all behind me. So to say the least I am excided, anxious, nervous, and most importantly hopeful.
So what goes on in between making this decision and the surgery date? I feel like I should do something, I thought about starting a food journal, taking my measurements, and doing some before pictures. I just want to make sure I do this right, I'm already starting to worry about failing.
Any words of wisdom?
Thanks,
Lehigh Barbie

Hey Lehigh!
I'm one of Dr. Jawad's patients. I am nearly a month post op, and think he is the most wonderful surgeon ever!
(I interviewed with 2 others before I chose him).
A few words of advice:
I had UHC too, they are easy at approving the surgery, as long as your company allows it. Call them atleast 2 or 3 times a week to keep the ball going. I was approved in 2 weeks.
Dont worry about the head doctor.. this was my biggest stress. They are going to ask you a few questions about your mental health and previous things... the one that stuck with me is this: Do you see or hear things that others have trouble seeing or hearing? I thought he was talking about street signs or something..
after talking about that a few minutes, he's like.. I'm talking about angels or things like that.. I nearly died of embarassment!
The earlier you start dieting, the better you'll do after surgery with healing. I went back to work after 2 weeks. They tell you to start a Low Carb diet atleast a month before surgery, and then 2 weeks before, they start you on protien shakes and 1 "reasonable dinner".
If you need to talk or anything.. just let me know!
