Personal Question????
I have Mirena and I love it. I like the hormone part of it since I use to have heavy periods due to having fibroids and lots of cramping. Within a year of getting it, I was barely spotting once a month...now I can go a month without spotting. I haven't found 1 downfall from it...well except for the first few weeks someone got poked by the copper wire, I thought it was funny personally.

Hey Heather! Congrats on the new addition! The IUD is a great form of birth control. I would choose the Mirena. We insert alot of them in the office at my work and I get very little phone calls from the patients we insert in. You will have some abnormal bleeding for about the first 6 months but then your periods should be very light. Some patients don't even have a period after the 6 months on Mirena. The copper one, called the Paragard, causes longer, heavier periods and more cramping. If you were still interested in the pill, there is a great pill called Yasmin that has no weight gain with it. It has a different type of progesterone in it. A new pill by the same manufacturer came out last week called Yaz. It's a great pill also, no weight gain, shorter periods but a lower dose of estrogen. It might be hard to get under insurance though. Anyway, hope this helps! Take care and good luck on your new arrival.
