POST WLS What FL. INS. is BEST???
gosh.. how amazing... I thought my husband and I had come up with an original idea and here you are! lol... we have decided i should look for a job based on WLS and ease of getting approved! so all ya'll out there who have had surgery in 2006 please let me know insurance name and steps to approval!! Thanks!!!
There are Several. BC/BS is one of the Worst. I'm on Medicare and very Happy with mine - "Humana Gold Plus". But reading on several sites it seems beyond all others for fastest would be "United Health Care". But there are Several "Humana Plans" too. If your going to get a Job just for the insurance to cover WLS. Get a copy of their insurance agreement and be sure to check the Small Print for Exclusion of any WLS.

Julie - I would say United Healthcare is a GREAT insurance to have. However, it depends on what your company contracts with. United covered the surgery in 9/04 when I had surgery - and still does however after I used it to have surgery - this year our company decided to write out the words "medically necessary" so that it made it this year uncoverable. I had my pre-tests done and was approved in 14 days after paperwork was submitted. Aetna requires a 3 month documented diet and Cigna a 6 month supervised diet. For all I know United could require some type of diet history but since I was with my PCP for so long and we always spoke about diets etc and he documented stuff that could have been the reason it was quickly approved. Stick true to your 3 month plan and you will be approved in no time!!!!!
If you are looking for a job just to cover WLS, go to Brighthouse networks. I work there, have United Healthcare and only paid appx 175 to have the surgery done including all co-pays. I have heard a rumor that after the 1st of next year they will not be covering it anymore due to the influx of people that have had it this year (over 20 in the Orlando division alone). Customer service and Sales are pretty easy areas to get into, and if you have a more technical background, you can get into our broadband area. I worked with the broadband area and moved on to a "special" team now. The benefits are awesome.. but go thru UHC, not BCBS. There are several nonhealth related benefits as well. Email me for more info!
I had my surgery last month with United Healthcare. I was approved in a little under 2 weeks. I didnt have to do the supervised diet or any cardiovascular tests. I only had 2 bloodwork tests, a psych eval and a Nutritionist eval.

personally I dont think they would have a answer for you. Every company is different and so is every insurance. I dont think the doctors off keep track of employers that offer coverage. and companies have the liberty to change there coverage each calender year. Plus how would the docotrs office know who had employment oppertuitys open at this time??? Just my thought/ heather
