Okay my pcp suggested this option. Now i am not sure what is best. Should i have my PCP to write the insurance company or should i go to the meeting that my surgeon does weekly and let his office proceed further. Which one is quicker and better?

I think a lot of that depends on what kind of insurance you have. If you have an HMO your PCP will probably have to refer you to the surgeon. But if there are several surgeons on your insurance panel you might want to attend the meetings to get an idea which surgeon you want. If your insurance company does not require referrals then you could go to the surgeon and let his office handle the details. However, the courteous thing to do is to keep your PCP in the loop with everything that is going on. In any case, your surgeon will more than likely need a letter from your PCP that documents your co-morbidities. Plus have copies of all of your test results sent to your PCP. Red
