Actigall question?

I started taking the Actigall the Dr. Sieloff prescribed me. That pill is so darned big. How did you all take it? Whole or open it up? Dr. Sieloff did not say either way. I was researching on the internet and doctor's differ on the way they prescribe it.

If it's that big - get a pill cutter and cut it in half. If it's like a capsule see if you can open it and spill half in water or any drink. Is this pill to prevent gallstones in the gallbladder - ive heard about this. Let us know.

Yes, it is the pill that is to prevent gallstones. It is a capsule so I can't cut it. So far I have been putting it in a teaspoon full of s/f pudding and swallowing it that way. The problem I was running into was the fact that it had to be taken with food and I can't drink when I eat. So far the pudding is working.

I did a little looking in to this pill for you. It can be crushed if you need to. There are no warnings about it being harmful if you cru**** The pudding idea sounds great!!keep up the good work

Angie- Please call your pharmacist before you open the capsule and take it this way. Some medicine was not intended to be taken that way and can lose effectiveness. Some medicine can even be dangerous if you open the capsule this way. You might want to see if it comes in a different form. Some medications do come in different forms. Plus, when medicine says take with food -- most times that does not mean you have to take it with a full meal. You could take it with a few bites of something and still be able to drink some water so that you can swallow the pill.
