There is no right or wrong answers. IT is more of a personal gett o know you kind of thing that will get a idea of how dedicated you are to this life changing experience. Thats all I know. Best wishes

I had my Pysch Evaluation last Sept.05. We talked for about 55 Minutes. I then took a 645 Multiple Choice Question Test mainly about how I felt about stuff. That took just over two (2) hours. Totallling three plus some hours. They sent that test away and the next thing I knew I was Approved. I did take control of the evaluation though by telling him about the WLS I had chosen which seemed to impress him that I had already done so much research. He was also impressed the I was reading "The Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies" book. Have Fun, Mike

Julie, I had my psyc evaluation in November of 2005. You fill out a kind of get to know you questionaire which was several pages. Info about family history, and what your all about. Then the evaluation with pysch lasted about 30 min or so. Basically, he just went over what you filled out on the questionaire and reasked certain questions, again I felt to get to know you better and to see if they think you can handle what you will be going through. At the end, I was told that he was giving his approval to move forward with the surgery. It was a breeze for me. Good Luck and don't be intimidated.

You have to be careful when therapists make those kinds of statements. Most insurance companies only require a 1 hour psych eval. However, some therapists decide that WLS requires testing. That is what can take 2 or more hrs. Check with your surgeon and your insurance company to verify what they require. If they say no testing is required and just the eval: find another therapist.

Mine took alittle over an hour. It was more of me talking about my researching the wls,why i couldnt do diets and how i gained. What my goals where after surgery and that i was totally ready for this change in my life and why i wanted to change my life. I think too that they want to make sure you can handle such a radical change in your life. So you wont get overly depressed and do something to yourself. JUst tell the truth how you have felt and how you feel and why you want this. Youll do fine.
