Yes, I believe when the RNY surgery is done laparoscopically the surgeon places the g-tube in the old stomach for drainage, however in an open RNY this is not necessary. I believe the decision is done by the surgeon based on his experience. You may find lots of answers for this one. On your other question I do not know..but I'm sure a qualified surgeon can definately can get this done. Good luck to you.
Thanks for your speedy replies. I have surgery scheduled for May 4, doing lots of reading and I'm still finding facts I haven't heard before!
I had a Nissen fundoplication several years ago and have found a very experienced surgeon to convert it to a bypass. However, I haven't found another person who has experienced this and would love to find one to talk wth.
