Fashion Question

I hope you all don't think I'm nuts, but I am from Massachusetts and I am going on vacation to Florida next week and I am wondering if the women in Florida keep to the fashion rule of never wearing white before Memorial Day or after Labor Day. The reason I ask is that I am starting to pack and I remember one episode of The Golden Girls when Blanche made a negative comment about someone who was wearing white off season... Thanks in advance for your reply.

Its really not unacceptable.. as far as I have ever seen. I will let you know.. its REALLY cold this week! (50-low 60's). It's supposed to get down to 39 tonight... so no matter what, I'd bring a jacket atleast!

Girl down here they wear white all the time. I guess maybe cuase its usually always nice weather. Where are you going in FL? Have a great time, where your white slacks and enjoy. Priscilla

Thanks, Priscilla! I'll be going to Anna Maria Island on the Gulf Coast. Can't wait, although it seems it's just as warm here as it is down where you are, today anyway! No matter what, it will be good to have a vacation and a change of scenery and, when I get home, it will be spring here!

Thanks, Heather. I'm not REALLY worried about what to bring but don't want to call any more unnecessary attention to myself by wearing inappropriate clothing since my ghostly complexion and my Boston accent may already peak unsolicited curiousity.

I thought it was Easter and Labor Day for wearing white shoes. Otherwise, I wear what I want, when I want. At home, I am mostly barefoot and Sandals until cool weather slips in sometime in October. Slide shoes are fashionable here in Florida all the time.' Again, it depends on where in Florida you will be. Mid to South Florida, you can wear shorts most of the time. North Florida is still a little chilly.

Maybe it IS Easter! I'll have to check that out! Barefoot and sandals sounds great! I really hate wearing shoes and I delay doing so as long as I can through the fall here, which sometimes can be quite warm. I'm not exactly sure where Anna Maria Island is in terms of North or South, but I think it's somewhere around the middle, on the Gulf Coast. If worse come to worse, I can always go SHOPPING! Anna Maria Island is on the West coast - not far from the Clearwater St Pete area. If you want to be formal in Florida, put creases in your pants. Otherwise, anything goes. Carol
