honestly, they are all different... and EVERYONE likes their own thing... one thing to avoid - at least in the very beginning is mixing them with heavy milk (whole or 2%)... I am over 19 months out and milk still makes me sick... ~ Monica OH Support Group Leader

Hi Heidi, I have been on a protein diet before surgery. I have used Desinger Whey Protein Mix. You buy it at Wal-Mart. I mix 1/3 cup Protein Powder and 1 Cup of Fat Free Milk. It taste real good to me. I use the chocolate. I shake it up and then put it in the freezer for about 10 min. Then I shake before I drink. It good. They say your taste buds change after surgery. We shall see. There are all kinds out there. I hope to try others. Good tasting!!! God Bless Crystal

It's true, there are many different shakes, brands etc, and everyone has different tastes. The good thing is, you can order samples!!! My favorite website for many reasons is www.bariatriceating.com. She is in Pompano Beach and the shipping is FAST!!! She also has a shop if you want to save the shipping costs. Check it out. I love the Elite chocolate mint. The Isopure vanilla is good because you can add all kinds of things to it, fruit, etc. I would definitely suggest trying samples and also keep in mind most people's taste buds change after surgery, so something you may like pre op may not taste the same to you post op! Good luck, let us know how you make out! Carol

Im finicky about alot of protein shakes especially the ones that I have tried that I don't do well cause they have SUGAR!! hahahaha...I have found Isopure - the one I just started trying (Dutch Chocolate) pretty good and it doesn't have that much of an aftertaste or heavy feeling. Plus it has 50 - yes 50!!!! grams of protein in a 12 oz glass so that should last the whole day! I would tell ya to go out and buy a small package of whatever before getting deeply into it and overspending on any one product because as ya know you may not like it after the first try.

I have found ONE that I can actually handle. It's the GNC Chocolate carmel 100% Whey protein, with 21 grams of protein(with milk it's 30 grams). It is not thick, it's just like chocolate milk and it doesn't clump. I also take Swissmiss sugar free hot chocolate, add 1 tablespoon of GNC tasteless whey protein, and add alittle SF chocolate syrup. Comes out to 16 grams of protein.

My favorite is UNJURY Chocolate --its one scoop of powder mixed with 6-8 oz of milk. It tastes and smells (to me) just like Nestle's Nesquick!!!! There is Vanilla and Strawberry flavors also and an unflavored powder too You can buy it at www.unjury.com

I don't like the Choc/Vanilla/Strawberry type shakes...they all made me gag. What I have found that works great for me is the NECTAR brand whey protein shake. They come in fruity flavors (Cherry Berry, Lemon Tea, Lemonade, Crystal Sky, Fuzzy Navel, etc.) I can't remember them all. I ordered samples from enjoyhealth.com My personal favorites are the Lemon Tea and Roadside Lemonade. With the Tea I usually mix with Crystal Light lemonade or Peach tea flavor. With the lemonade, I use SF Grape or Cherry Kool-Aid mix...no funky taste afterwards.
