Fort Lauderdale Area

Hi I am new to this site and had surgery on Feb 8, 2006. My surgery was done at Cleveland Clinic in Weston. I am trying to find some local support group because unfortunately I am having some scheduling problems getting out there. I appreciate any help. Thanks!

Hi Jodi. I live in Pompano Beach and although I was never able to have the surgery (insurance doesn't cover it) I would be glad to give you some local support. I have quite a few friends that had the surgery and being that I am still hoping to have it I understand what you are going through. I will be happy to tell you about some support meetings that I am aware of. One that is near Ft. Lauderdale is at the Holy Cross hospital on Federal Hwy. you could go to their website and see if they can be of any help. www.usbariatrics.com they have support groups of all kinds and they are open to the public. If you go to the site you can click on support on the left side and then open the calendar, they have support from in person to online to cooking classes etc. It is a great program and you will be pleased with the outcome of people at each group session. I have attended a few meetings but being that I haven't had the procedure I don't attend as often as I could. I hope this helps. I would love to chat with you sometime whenever. Hey there Jodi - I had my RNY done @ CC too! Dr Rosenthal did my surgery. You should contact Norma or Carol or Emily Swartz the nutrionist for CCW and they will get you the info for the CC support group. They meet monthly in Conf Room 1 (unless it's changed). I live in Naples and I'm currently attending the CC NAples support group. We meet on 3rd tuesday of each month. Weston isn't that far from Pompano! Treat yourself and go! They're an awesome group!
