A year without CELLULITIS!!!!

This past week marked a year that I have gone without having cellulitis, it's been almost 18 months since being hospitalized with cellulitis. I used to get minor cases almost every 6 weeks, then I could go longer between boughts but the cases were more severe and required hospital stays for IV antibiotics. Since moving to Miami, I have been doing so well...I can't believe it, you would think the warmer climate, full time job, new part-time job, would be bad for my legs...I wear my garments everyday! But could that be it!!! So I stopped and pondered....my last major case of cellulits also came with a DVT so for that past 18 months I've on coumadin, I'm wondering if because my blood is thinner if my lymph fluid isn't moving a little better and the bacteria isn't getting backed up. I'm going to run my theory past my PCP and my lymph specialist to see what they think. As for now, I'm enjoying not knowing where my thermometer is! Sarah Margaret

Sarah Margaret, I am so happy for you that you have not being plagued by cellulitis for a year. I also have that problem. I have had it about 15 times in the last 4 years all but about 3 times in my left leg. My first two times were very serious and required hospitalization and IV antibiotics. I have gotten much better at recognizing the first little feeling of blood rushing to my leg when I put it down and getting right to the doc for a big shot and 2 weeks of antibx. so have managed not to go back to the hospital. Anyway once again I am happy for you! Keep it up girl! Kat

My left leg is the always the problem also, it's where the DVT developed.

Hey, You better get over the cooties by next month. I myself, went home had some seafood salad and intended to take a nap which turned into sleeping until 10...no dinner...which since it was Ash Wednesday went along with the whole fasting thing...I watch Project Runway and went back to bed. Next week is Spring Break...we have to work...but no student around and no programs. Sarah

Sarah, The karate seminar got changed to Jacksonville so for the weekend, it is just us- Larry will come down on Sunday night. He is cool with me coming alone. So what are we going to do this time???? Anybody you want to invite? Maybe Alexa is she wants to come? Or just me and you. Did you get the time off? How long can you stay? I will head down Friday after wook and be there all week. I am not due back to wor****il 041706. The only thing I know that I am doing is with Larry on Monday 041006 and that is Islands of Adventure with alot of the karate people from the seminar and you can come to that too. I am so excited - it seems like forever since last October. I hope it is warm enough for Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach. We need to plan a whole day there if it is warm enough. Terri
