I'VE BEEN SOOO BAD...COULDN'T STAND IT ANYMORE
Well, I had the procedure done on 2/15....of course I am sore, etc...but I have not vomitted once...I've only had hunger pains!!!
I finally took things into my own hands and sunday I "beat and mashed" once slice of ham with one of cheese....I perfected it to be a smushy paste and it tasted like HEAVEN!
I am tired of all the sweet liquids, puddings, and even the little made home soups...I needed to taste something more solid...I tolerated it fine and was finally able to sleep like a baby.
I haven't told my nutrionist yet...but protein can't be that bad...and how many calories in a slice of ham/cheese? Comments please...
First let me (lovingly) slap your hand...since that was the wrong thing to do!! Not sure if you've had the RNY or LapBand....but you need to stay on the liquids for a important reason and that's so that the insides can heal. It's not about the calories or protein - it's about not injuring your sensitive insides while you're healing. So even if you don't confess - stick with the plan...and don't do what you're not supposed to.....you don't want injuring something in there...
At this point you're getting the HEAD hungries and they will come again...I had it when I was out a bit more and it became very frustrating...but you have to work at it..and not give in..especially at this point. Take good care of yourself.

Rita,
I understand the pull of "head hunger" but to be successful, you really need to follow your surgeon's food plan. Your pouch is still in the healing stage and although you tolerated it this time, you may not be as lucky next time. Now is the time to learn new habits so you can have "new" results. Good luck and hang in there! You can do this!!

Have to join the band wagan Rita and also remind you to stay away from those puddings. Puddings and potatoes are the bad starches that put weight on you. Stay away from them and carbs (breads, pasta...)till at least 6 months out. Stick with protein, fruits and vegetables. Let your tummy heal girlfriend, its only a little while longer than you can switch to other foods.
You will be successful....now lets put this behind, and start anew, OK?
blessings,
Tami
Rita--I'm not gonna slap your hand as, to me, what you had wasn't that bad. My program called for soft foods for two weeks--you are about there now. I can remember craving something more solid. Cottage cheese was my fantasy--how weird is that? Soups and puddings were never on my program. Although I love soup and eat it now--my nutritionist was always totally opposed to drinking calories-because they don't fill your pouch and you are still hungry after drinking them. She put soups in this category. Good luck to you on your journey.
