I had surgery in 2002 and have maintained a 3 1/2 year weight loss of 105 lbs. I have not been feeling that great, lightheaded, dizzy general feeling of well being diminished. I was diagnosed this week with anemia. I have started a regimen of vitamins to include: Mulit-vitamin Vitamin B12 Complex Vitamin E Complex Magnesium Omega Three (Shaklee Vitamins) My Dr. prescribed iron but I am concerned about which iron to take sulfate or carbonyl any suggestions. Would like some feed back

Donna, I'm so sorry to hear you're not feeling 100%! I just say my Gyno doc today & his wife had wls several years ago & is now anemic. I've not had a problem with low iron on my labs but he wrote a prescription for an iron med as a precaution. I think it is called Replish or something like that. He told me is sort of like birth control pills, you take 1 a day for 21 days, then 7 days off. He said studies have shown that absorbtion is better if NOT taken continuously. I'm going pick up the med tomorrow & try it for a while to see if my iron levels go up. You might also want to add a calcium citrate to your regimen. We don't absorb calcium well after wls and it could lead to bone loss. Even if our blood calcium looks fine, we may be losing bone density. I take 150% of the RDA of a calcium citrate capsule that I get at Wal-Mart. Hope you're feeling better & more energetic soon! Vickie J.

Donna, if your doctor prescribed Iron, I would ask him which he prefers you to take.
