GRRRR...... Blasted STALL!
hi guys!
just needing to whine and vent!
as I am going on my 5th week of a stall... I am 3.5 months post-op and down about 60 er 63 no 60 oops make that 63 lbs... are you catching my drift?? Everytime I weigh, my scale lies to me! 5 weeks now. I have tried upping my intake on protein and water and even calories since I was getting in less than 700 and still I sit here teeter tottering between 3lbs! *sigh*
I have gone down from a size 30 to 22 on a good note though! (pics on profile) AND I have lost 6 inches off my big ole boobys!! Hubby says he never signed up for that though! LOL
Thanx listening to me whine!

p.s.
I am open to advice!!

Adjusting your food isn't the only thing you need to do to shake your body into thinking it isn't being starved, you also need to change your physical activity. Have you changed your exercise routine yet? That seems to help me with my stalls, my problem is getting the exercise started, once I start then I'm fine. Also, how is your water intake? You need that to keep your metabolism working at it's best too.
My .02 cents...

I would just have to say stay away from the scale......
Example:my scale would say 321 then I would weigh next day 324 then 323..It was making me nuts...I was trying to reach the one hundred lb mark. So I went to my Drs yesterday and found I weighed 315 so my scale is off by 6 lbs.
Congrats on your clothing down size....Hang in there

Getting enough protein, wheyprotein....like 3 shakes a day? We don't absorb all we eat you know, so you have to drink it. What are you eating? Any empty calories, like pudding, potatoes? And I agree with the exercise, that will make a difference too. You may stall in weight, but continue to lose inches. Kudos by the way on the63 lbs weight loss....that is awecome, just awesome. We're here to cheer you on, you'll get over this yet!
hugs, Tami
Oh yeah... I can so understand that boob thing. As you know I have to lose weight to have my heart cath. I have lost 41 pounds from my highest weight but still have 24 more to go before I can get my cath. I think I lost it all in my boobs. I am dang near flat chested these days.
Terrieberrie sent me an ecard of this woman singing Do your boobs hang low...as she tied her long saggy breasts in a bow. I thought yep that's me! LOL!

SallyKate,
STEP AWAY FROM THE SCALE!!
The best advice I got before surgery was to remove the scale from your home and never weight at home!! I knew I would be obsessed about the scale so although I did not take the scale out of the house, I only used AFTER I weighed at the doctor, nurtritionist, or dietician's offices (did this to compare the accuracy of my digital scale to their scales). If I hit pateaus or stalls, which I'm sure I did, everyone does, I never knew it b/c I was only weighing once every 4-6 weeks. So those little bumps in the road went totally unnoticed!
Also, if you're using an "old fashioned" scale, not a digital or counterbalance (doctor office type) or Tanita (impedence fat measuring) scale you need to remember that they are inheritently inaccurate by as much as 3-6 lbs everytime you step on them. Try this experiement. Step on the scale, note your weight and step off. Now, do this 5 times waiting a minute or 2 between weigh-ins. If your scales are like most, they will register a different number more than 1/2 the time.
I just saw a plastic surgeon for a consult yesterday and he asked for a current weight. When I told him it had been several weeks (1/25) since I'd weighted he asked why, did I not have a scale at home. When I told him I have a very accurate digital scale but that I only weigh-in at "offical" visits he asked whose idea that was, did my surgeon tell me to do that. I told him no, a wls friend suggested it and I thought it was good advice. He told me that was the smartest thing I could have done. Otherwise too many wls patients become obsessed by the numbers on the scale when they should be going by how they look & feel. (30% of his ps practice is bariatric patients so he has dealt with lots of us!)
On the months that I didn't seem to lose as many pounds, I found that I lost more inches. Just the body's way of staying in balance I guess.
So step away from the scale. As long as you're following your surgeon's food plan, getting in all your water, protein & vitamins you'll be fine.
