Weird Question

Hey guys/gals, I lurk a lot on the board, but don't post much. However, I have something going on and was wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same thing or has experienced it. First, a little background. I had a Lap RNY in June 2002 and they also removed my gall bladder. I lost 150 lbs and was maintaining at 172. In December of 2004, I became pregnant and delivered my son in September of 2006. I have since lost all the baby weight and am again maintaining at 172. Now, my question: I was on travel last week for work and I was not (to say the least) eating very well. Not as much protein as usual and not able to have my afternoon cheese stick (only cookies were available) so I went without snacks. The problem is, since I returned home on Thursday, I am ravenously hungry most of the day. When I don't eat, I get the most uncomfortable pain under my rib cage all the way around my torso and into my back. It seems to be radiating out from my sternum and it is painful! I remember after I first had the surgery I felt like that, but I haven't had it in a long time. When I eat, it alleviates it for awhile, but then if I don't eat the second I feel hungry it is almost unbearably painful. Anyway, sorry so long, I just wondered if anyone else had experienced this. Thanks in advance! Heather B

Huum, did you say eating only alleviates it for a while? This pain could be ulcer related. I'd run it by the doc. I have a duodunal (sp?) ulcer and that acid pain from the old stomach is painful. I am on some carafate for it and prevacid for the stomach acid. What a difference. You should not be having this kind of pain, so check with the doc and keep us posted as to what he says, ok? Blessings, Tami

Thanks for the advice ladies. I guess I will have to shoot my surgeon (in Alaska) an email and see what he says! Hugs, Heather B
