Overcash or Kim?

Hello, I am torn between both of these doctors. I live in Lake Mary/Sanford FL. I like them both, Overcash has a $400 program fee, which is refundable "AFTER" ins. pays for your WLS. Kim has a $600 program fee, non refundable, & $400 psyc. Dr, that you HAVE to go to "Not covered". So in the long run, Overcash is cheaper, but Kim is closer & the hospital is NICE "Celebration". Any thoughts would be GREAT. Thank You!!!!!

This is always a loaded question because we are all usually loyal to our surgeon since they are the ones who used their talented hands to help us start our journey for a healthier, happier life. Both doctors have great success rates and numerous patients who will tout their praises on here. I liked that I didn't have to wait a long time to get the process started with Overcash, but also wish he had the more detailed follow-up care that US Bariatrics offers (albeit you pay for it). Having said that, I am happy with my choice and know many who love Dr. Kim too. Ultimately, you need to decide what you want most...close proximity or saving money. Good luck! Amy P.S. I had surgery in Munroe Regional in Ocala and that hospital was nice too, not the eleborate spanish motif of Florida Hospital-Celebration but I was impressed with the knowledge of the nurses about WLS and the kindness they displayed. I had a huge private room, newly renovated and able to accommodate my family.

What about getting approved. A friend says she was approved with Kim, but Denied with Overcash. I have Aetna NAP ins.

Money is always a good point to think about. I am very happy with overcash. My friend just used KIM and is happy as well. Good luck. Heather

Julie, it sounds like you can afford either of these programs, so my answer is predicated on that assumption. Never base a medical decision on money, if you don't have to. Which doctor do you feel more comfortable with? Which hospital do you feel more comfortable with? Who has the better support system? Who has the better post-op program? Who has the better results? Who has done more surgeries? Who has had more complications? Who has better referrals? When you have considered all the different aspects and if you considered both surgeons, their programs, and the hospitals to be 100% equal,(being totally honest), then consider the money. I don't know enough about either surgeon, hospital or program to offer an opinion on them, but I would hate to think that I decided a life changing decision on $1000.00 Good luck, Steve

I would choose Dr Kim in a heartbeat. That man is fantastic. He called me on Memorial day to check to see how I was doing. Did my gallbladder surgery and did not charge me, only the hospital. He always calls me back and talks to me personally. He is an excellend doctor and very caring. Celebration is a great hospital too. blessings, Tami

I'm sure either are great choices. Dr. Kim saw me in Holy Cross during my stay, as he's part of the U.S.Bariatric team and this was just before they opened his office. I'm very partial to the "complete package of care" that US Bariatric offers. luvitsunnyv

Since, as Amy pointed out, we are all loyal to our own surgeon, why did you not include Dr. Jawad on your list as he is also in Ocala, does not have any program fee and is a Center of Excellence from the ASBS!!

Review my private email to you about him and I will tell ya that it's worth the trip - and Munroe Regional is an EXCELLENT hospital as well.

I have to throw my two cents in for the "what it's worth department." I had Overcash perform gall bladder surgery on me several years ago. His bedside manner is lacking to say the least and when I had trouble following the surgery he told me not to call him until after Christmas. (This was about three days before Christmas) I wound up seeing my family physician. It was a miserable experience for something that was supposed to be an easy in, easy out type of thing. I don't mean to upset anyone, but that was just my experience with him. Obviously from the posts, many others have been very happy with him.
