a whole buch of can i's?
I havent had surgery yet? still waiting for my psch doctor. (heard she takes long) which is besides my question. Can I have surgery on friday and return on monday? has anyone done that? can i make my own baby food hafter surgey....and is it really ness to eat that after surgery. Can i drive? Can I have sex? Can I have kids? oh boy, one more Can I really be happy?
Hmmmmm...Good luck returning to work within three days considering you will probably be in the hospital for at least 2 of them. Having lap versus open will get you back to work sooner, but you need to give your body some time to recoup. I went back to work at 3 weeks, but was given 4 off by my surgeon, but I couldnt handle watching soaps or playing pogo and more. Many have gone back to work in a week.
Your surgeon will have a specific diet to follow, ask them about the baby food...but yuck is my opinion!
I couldn't drive for 2 weeks after as per my surgeon, I caved at 8 days and got yelled at by my family, but I lived a lone and got tired of asking people to come get me.
Not sure about sex since I wasn't getting any then.
You can have kids after two years post op (preferred by doctors), but you will be highly monitored and need to make sure you get the appropriate nutrients.
Happy? I am amazed at how happy I am...food no longer controls my life...I eat to live, not live to eat these days. Wish I did it sooner!
Research the boards, ask your surgeon lots of questions, go to support group meetings and find out if this is really the right decision for you? Your question asking "if you can really be happy" is a bit of a concern that you might have some doubts.

Michelle, figure at least two weeks off of work, maybe more depending on how physical your job is. You need to give yourself time to heal. Baby food: I never ate the first bite of baby food postop, I went from full liquids to pureed. Driving: I was driving three day after getting home from the hospital. Sex: Sex is, as you feel comfortable, some peopel have it a few days afterr getting home, others wait weeks. Just take it easy and if it hurts stop. Kids: you should wait at least two years, give yourself a chance to lose all your weight, and if you are going to have kids, you should probably do that before any plastics. Haqppiness: I have never been happier in my life as I am, now that i have lost all of my weight. good luck,
Steve
