Follow up care in FL
Hello everyone:
I usually post on the Over 50 Forum but need some advice pertinent to FL.
I am looking for good bariatric follow up care for my husband who had surgery last Feb. He has developed a peripheral neuropathy possibly due to vitamin def. We live in the Sarasota area, but are willing to travel.
We both had surgery in NY but live in FL in the winter. We cannot seem to find any follow up care down here and we are getting very worried.
Thanks.
Pat/Louise
I'm not from your area but I would suggest if you don't get a posted response from someone in your area, that you call the hospitals around there and ask if they do bariatric surgery and if so, the surgeon that is associated with their hospital. It's a start.... I know there's got to be a bariatric surgeon in the Tampa as large a city as Tampa is.

Hi Pat,
Nice to see you on the Florida board. My surgeon ,Dr Ernest Rehnke, is in St Pete just over the skyway bridge. He has been helping bypass patients for many years. His phone # is 727-344-0640. His website is
www.obesitynomorefl.com
Best of luck and I hope Jerry is feeling better.

Did you ever find a bariatric to follow up with? I'm having the same problem. I had my surgery in Conn., but moved to Florida and have called the surgeons in my area and nobody will touch me. They will not do the follow up if they didn't do the surgery. Don't know if its because they aren't getting the bucks for the surgery or they don't want the responsibility if something goes wrong on someone else's surgery.
Lately I've been having severe stomach pains and I've been to the ER twice and after CT scan, ultrasound, xray and bloodwork, they still have no idea what it is. It's frustrating to say the least.
