has any one had tyroid problems pre-op... well my surgery surpose to be on 02/07/06...but my ultra sound results states that a have a small nodle on my right side of my tyroid...but the blood work indicates that my tyroid is fine...today i had a tyroid optale scan......the outcome of this will determine if i have to fix this tyroid problem first or get the surgery, and my pcp will keep and eye on it only if its not affecting me......my surgeon states that every thing will be ok...because he does both.....but i want the surgery so bad...but know i feel i waited this long i can wait until this problem gets fix...any advise please

I had thyroid problems for years pre op and even had a nodule that was detected pre op. But, nothing was done. It was just something on my thyroid and they could tell it wasn't anything bad and that was that. I had my surgery, no problems. I continue to take my Synthroid daily and I'm fine. You will be too. Hang in there. It will all work out to the good. La Wanda

I can relate to your despair! Read my profile... I have had thyroid problems for years, beginning with a goiter at age 5. Right before surgery, they found a mass on my thyroid. My bloodwork was fine, they found it with an ultrasound. I was so frantic that it couldn't be taken care of in time. I had it biopsied right before my WLS. Luckily it came back benign, so it didn't delay my surgery. The thyroid issues haven't hindered my weightloss. Hang in there...I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers! Good Luck, Erika L
