Can anyone tell me if there are any vitamins I can take other than the Building Blocks, that are the same in quality but not in QUANTITY. I dread when it's time to swallow my 5 horse pills in the morning and evening, plus the 3 extras (including iron) i have to take at lunchtime. I have tried the chewables and almost threw them up each time, so they are definitely out for me. If anyone can help me on this i would APPRECIATE their every bit of help. I would love to only have to take one or two pills a day - MAX. Thanks. Joanne (desperate) -- Joanne Brown

Joanne-Usually it is the calcium which makes the quantity of pills go up. Here is what I take--2 Solgar VM-75 capsules, 6 chewable calcium citrate (2 3 times a day) I choose the Twinlabs wafers and I enjoy them--they are like giant sweet tarts to me. Another good brand of calcium is the Bariatric Advantage. I also take a sublingual B-12 every other day. My VM-75 has iron in it and the only time I added on to it was when I was preparing for plastics. I have had great bloodwork.

I use the vista vitamins from bariatric eating. 4 in the am, 4 in the pm. They come in little packages marked am, pm. I have been most faithful with them. They are in the gel cap and are easy to swallow. We have to take more than one or two pills JOanne, its going to be that way for the rest of our lives. These vitamins are made to absorb better for gastric bypass pts. My labs came back real good too. Blessings, Tami

Why so many???? I take 2 children's chewable, 1 viactiv and one B150 later on......need to work on my iron. And my labs are good. I had also tried the centrum but they are kinda big. I think vitamins are - whatever you can tolerate..hope you will find what works for you. Try bariatriceating.com

Joanne, What does your surgeon suggest. I know some people think that more is better when it comes to vitamins, but that is not always the case. Listen to your surgeon, "most" post-ops I know, only have to take 1 multivitamin a day, calcium, maybe iron, and either b12 pills or a b12 shot. You can over do vitamins, and break the bank while you are doing it. Good Luck, Steve

Our nutrisist told us we could take Optisource, Specially formulated for use after bariatric surgery, chewable vitamin & mineral supplement from Walgreens. I chew 2 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon and they have everything we need. I keep on bottle at work and on bottle at home. It works out great for me.

I take 2 Centrum Chewables & 2 Os-Cal calcium chewables (1 of each in AM & PM) plus a sublingual b-12 from Trivita & a sublingual Biotin by Solaray. The Centrum & Os-Cal's taste like candy. The sublinguals have a pleasant fruity flavor.
