Hi Everyone...your prayers worked!
Hi everyone,
I'm doing well after my heart surgery last week. Things went o.k. access went well, but because I have a persistant left vena cava and no right one it made the actual internal procedure difficult, and I was aware during almost the entire thing, but I was not freaked out.
Sorry I didn't update sooner, I don't have internet connection at home, suppose to have it but it's not working. I'm back at work today because it's a desk job. I had to give myself Lovenox all weekend...not so bad...just saw my PCP this afternoon and my INR was back up to theraputic (sorry Amy B. not quite sure what the heck INR stands for I just know it measures how quick my blood clots and my is suppose to be between 2-3). I see my cardiologist on Wednesday. The entire matching outfit for the hospital was a no go...I didn't even wear my new panties...because I didn't want to get betadine on them. Oh well...and I saw the cutie cardiac fellow who did one of my test on me over the summer, and saw that he had a wedding ring...darn the luck!!!
As you can see...I'm back to normal...
My leg is getting pretty sore...I think it's because I am on it more now. The bruising is spreading out. I'm going home and resting tonight. Keeping it light this week, I'll see how it goes then let LB know when I will return.
Bye for now,
Sarah

Sarah,
So glad to see you back on the board and especially happy that all is well. I'll cut you some slack on not knowing what INR means, I'm sure there will be another acronym in your future you can educate me on
. Any chance you can make it up here Feb 18th for our trip to Seaworld? I figure the M&G is too soon (this Saturday) but maybe you can find some time in your hectic schedule to come say hello to Shamu???!!!
Anyway, glad you're back on here and doing so well! Keep it up!
Amy B.

Hmmm...Actually...my roommate and I had been talking about going to Orlando this weekend...the reason is kinda a secret. But I'll let you know whether to expect to see us at the M&G, you know how much I've been wanting to make it to one of those!
Sarah
p.s. INR (International Normalized Ratio)
Prothrombin time (PT) is a blood test that measures how long it takes blood to clot. PT is used to monitor treatment with medication that prevents the formation of blood clots.
A method of standardizing prothrombin time results, called the international normalized ratio (INR) system, has been developed to compare prothrombin time results among labs using different test methods. Using the INR system, treatment to prevent blood clots (anticoagulant therapy) remains consistent even if a person has the test done at different labs. In some situations, only the INR is reported and the PT is not reported.
