Well I went to my OB/GYN yesterday and he started talking to me about the Sugar test and drinking the liquid. I told him that I really did not want to do that because of my WLS. He is open to reading anything that I bring him I have a few weeks before I have to take the test. Any suggestions? Thanks/ Heather

Hi Heather Have you had any problems with your sugar level in the past? I was on a pill for diabetes and my Dr told me I could stop taking it cuz my blood levels were normal, but he wants me to have the same test in a month. I'm not sure about the fact that liquid hurting us ?? I'm going to ask my friend who is a nurse how much does that drink have. I will post the answer to you ok Priscilla

No problems in the past however I am preg and it is routine at 28 weeks. there is 50 grams of sugar in the drink. As far as I know it will only make me dump and we all know how that can end up smelling at this point in our lives. I dont want the embarressment of that.

Hey Heather... I think you should go check out the pregnancy board and see what alternatives they have had to do. That stuff was nasty even before I had WLS...I can't imagine doing it now and taking a risk of getting sick. http://obesityhelp.com/forums/postop_pregnancy/ Tracey

Hi Terriberrie! Thank you so much, I feel wonderful..I can't believe how far I have come. I have done what my surgeon told me, protein in first and lots of water. I went to a new PCP and he told me the other day I need a regular exercise program, I was bad about that one, he said I WILL gain the weight back if I don't. I joined the gym few months ago, then the bleeding ulcer happened so I need to go back. Positive thing is he said my skin isn't as far gone as I thought, he said if I exercise I shouldn't need PS for my arms, thighs, butt or tummy..I am going to give it a shot. I wish I had some secret to share with you all...but I just followed what I was told to do, except for the regular exercise. But I do stray now and then. Tracey

Why does your MD want this test? And ask your surgeon if you can take the glucose syrup for the test and if not does he have a suggestion? I am sure he has a good reason for your health care. dj PS: I have been a diabetic since I was 19. Boy was this surgery my lifesaver. d

is this for GD? it wont be accurate anyway because we absorb sugar diffrent... PLUS it could make you sick.... 50 grams of sugar at once? yikes... tell him you want to do the fasting tests.... show him atricles on dumping
