Is there anyone, i mean anyone out there that has/had United Healthcare
that was approved for Lapband surgery?
I live in Georgia, and am curious because i was told that a lot of insurance companies will not support this surgery, because they feel as though this type of surgery is still relatively new.
Even if there is/was someone out there that was denied, please email me with some information in reference to this.
Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for all your support

I would call them and ask directly. Be sure to ask if it is a covered benefit under the terms of YOUR plan. Meaning, does your employer specifically exclude Lapband. For instance, I have Cigna. I was told that bariatric surgery is excluded under many plans and unless it was excluded from MY benefit plan, I had certain criteria to meet to be covered, but only for certain surgeries and LapBand is one of them.
I later found out that there is pre-certification required, and all kinds of documentation and information that they want from a "team" of medical professionals. Plus a list of other stuff, and the 26 weeks of physician supervised weight loss documented... I am working on it!!
Anyway, I was trying not to be long winded. The short answer is:
find out what is covered by calling your insurance company directly.
