I am moving from Michigan to Saint Petersburg, Florida. Curious, if anyone has had surgery by him?

Hi, I'm in the process of a 6 month diet my Humana insurance requires but I'm using Dr.Rehnke for his record of operations, his skills and his personality. My Open Roux-En-Y will be in this coming April or May. Through his office they have support meetings once a month. One for the Bypass and another for the Lap Banders. Check the following sites: Dr.Rehnke's Main Web Site: http://www.obesitynomorefl.com/index.html And the message boards his patients use: http://www.obesitynomorefl.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi

I had lap band surgery with Dr Rehnke on December 13th. I am doing great! I like him and his staff very much. He has very active support groups and great follow up care. I live 100 miles away from him but went to him because of his fine reputation. The hospital he uses (Pasadena Palms) is bariatric friendly. Welcome to the Sunshine State !

Hi Janet, I just moved from Penna. and I meet with Dr. R once and meet his staff. I have 2 more months of my mandatory diet and then Dr. R's staff will submit my paperwork for the insurance company. I feel very comfortable with his skill level and personality. Dana P PS Welcome to Florida - I just love it here! I lived in Michigan for 5 years down towards Flatrock. I loved Detriot - the soup kitchen was one of my favorite hangouts, along with Greek Town and a little bar called The Post.

Hi Janet, Dr. Rehnke didn't do my surgery, but did do surgery on a friend of mine. Post-operatively, he took his staples and retention sutures out at the two week mark and before he even got out of the parking lot his incision opened up and he ended up in the hospital having to have surgery to have the incision reclosed. The only other concern that I have is that my friend was told all he needed to take for vitamin supplementation after surgery was a prenatal vitamin. As most of us will tell you that just isn't enough. Especially when it comes to Vitamin B-12. I know of another person who did have respiratory complications following surgery and she reported that after having been in the hospital for two weeks she hadn't seen Dr Rehnke in a few days called his office and was told that they didn't realize she was still in the hospital! As you investigate, it is definitely important to choose a surgeon with a good track record in surgery but also check out what the post-operative follow up entails. You should be followed for the rest of your life by this surgeon. Good luck! Oh by the way, I had my surgery done through West Coast Surgical Specialists at Morton Plant Hospital. Thrilled beyond imagination with my care and outcome! Good luck and welcome to the area. Julie 310/158/145
