How do I find a support group?

I live in Broward county and I really would like to find a support group. I'm having RNY on 1/18. I'm having the surgery out of the country, so I don't have a local hospital that will offer the support group. Does anyone know a website or an email group I can join, where I can get info on local meetings in my area? Thanks Bridget

Hi Bridget, I had my surgery done at holy cross hospital in ft. lauderdale, and they hold a support group there on the last tuesday of each month, i'm not sure if it's open to just patients from there or anyone so here's the number for info on that 954-351-7770 Joanne

Hi Joanne I actually looked into Holy Cross and attended a meeting there before I realized I couldn't afford it. I considered calling and asking about the support groups there but I would feel funny since I didn't have the surgery done there. But thanks for the suggestion! Bridget

i had my surgery at cleveland clinic in weston... their groups are open to everyone..... 954 659-5000 ... ask for baratric dept

Bridget, Can't help with a support group, but wanted to wish you well with your upcomming surgery. Just being nosey, where are you having your surgery done? Thanks Vickie, I'm having the surgery at the Obesity surgery center in Monterrey, Mexico. My surgeon's name is Dr Robert Rumbaut. My husband and I are self employeed and don't have insurance - so we're self pay. And since we're BOTH having the surgery, we had to go out of country to afford it.
