Hi, I am a serious lurker lol. I think i have read all the post ever on the board. I am scheduled for surgery on January 18th....the process went so fast has me kinda in shock. I am having the surgery to try and improve my diabetes....does anyone have any stories, experiences they would want to share on how the surgery improved or did not improve thier diabetes? I know that no matter what it will improve my quality of life but I think would help to hear from other people....I have days where i am excited and others where I have that" what am i doing??!" type feeling.

Hey Jennifer, I definately had that "what am I doing??" thing that you're having now, before and after my surgery. It had this wave of sureality wash over me many times. But, I'm 18 months out, have lost 140 pounds, and am scheduled for 5 plastic surgery procedures in May and June. I'm VERY glad I did it. My life is so much better now! As for your diabetes question, I didn't have it to begin with, so I can't help you there. I did have a problem with my blood sugar going very low. I cut way back on the amount of sugar and carbs I was eating about 2 weeks ago and, not only haven't had another episode of low blood sugar, I've started losing again, about 7-8 pounds. It's very cool! Well, good luck with your surgery!! Laura

Thank you! Reading your answer makes me feel a lot better....still got the jitters but am determined to push on......found a quote that I have printed and hanging over my desk " people will not change until the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of the change." My "pain "(Diabetes) is greater than this change....just gotta keep telling myself that

I am praying for strength and courage! I will pray for you too!!! Keep in touch, Jackie

I feel the exact same way, wishing I could just wake up and everything was over and be all healed up....sigh...if only I am so hoping that my diabetes will go away also...but I am trying not to count on it happening just in case. I wish ya luck and strength!! Let me know how things go after.....since i will be following almost in your footsteps lol Jenn
