Introducing myself

Hi Everyone !! My name is Andrea , I'm a Navy wife and mommy to three girls, 16, 12 and 6. Thanks to Katrina, our base is cosed now and we're being relocated to Mayport. I'll be moving in a few weeks, so I thought I'd introduce myself on the board to all you great folks and see if there are any groups in the Jax area I've had surgery 18 months ago and successfully lost around 140 lbs, although I still have about 20 more to go to get to goal. It's getting hard to get those off !! I 'd love to hear from you guys if you're in the Jacksonville area, even if you're pre-op, and I plan on being very active on the board :D Don't hesitate to email me , anytime. I really believe RNY has saved my life and I hope to be of assistance to anyone who has questions, concerns or doubts. Can't wait to be in Florida !!!!!! Welcome to Florida and to Jax! I moved here a little over 3 years ago now, and it takes some getting used to. I had my surgery in March of this year and am down about 140lbs, with about 96 to go. Hugs Kim

Kim, I saw your post and thought I'd contact you. I'm in Jacksonville and have a support group that mets the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month at the Regency Square Library from 10 AM to 1 PM. People come and go at their leisure and its a very relaxed meeting. We'd love to have you join us. Family and friends are welcome as are pre ops, post ops, and just people thinking about the surgery. If you can't make this meeting this Saturday, hopefully you'll mark your calendar to meet with us after the first of the year. Hope to see you soon. La Wanda

Hi Kim ! Wow, 140 since March? that makes me look bad LOL Just kidding!!! Hey we all need to meet sometime once I get there, I 'll be there at the very beginning of January, so I'm excited and can't wait to meet you !!!! We're moving from Mississippi and believe me, anywhere at this point is better than we are. It's such a mess here. I am just glad we got Jacksonville and not Washington state brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ( yeah.. I'm always cold now and couldn't handle being up North somewhere LOL ) ~Andie~

Andie: I'm in Jacksonville AND I have a support group. Did I see you live in Atlantic Beach now? Or was that where you're moving to? At any rate, we meet on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month at the Regency Square Library from 10 AM to 1 PM. There's a meeting this Saturday (12/17) and if you're already here, we'd LOVE to have you join us. If you need directions, let me know. If you can't stay for the whole meeting, no problem. Come on in when you can and leave when you have to. Its a very relaxed meeting and people come and go. We have a wonderful time and share all types of information and even have a product exchange. So, please plan to come be with us.

Hi LaWanda ! Thanks for the great welcome and info about the support group. I'll really need it, so as soon as I get there I will get in touch with you about directions. We'll be there sometime around the 3rd of January, and I'm anxious to get back into the "business" as I feel totally neglected the last few months, we've had problems even finding surgeons or doctors around here, leave alone support groups. So I'm really looking forward to this again. One more question about the meetings.. I have a 6 yr old, is it ok to bring her along? Or should I try to make arrangements to have a sitter instead? ~Andie~
