Re Empire BCBS - do they cover the lap band?

First of all, hi to everyone. I'm new to this site, and am very happy to have found it. I'm researching the lap band, and am 75% decided to doing it. Next year, I will have Empire BCBS - and wanted to know if anyone out there has experiences they are willing to share w/ me about this insurer, the lap band, etc. Thanks!

I cannot speak for BCBSEmpire, but I have BCBSFederal and at this time they do not pay for the lap band. I am having the RYN on 7 December and I had no problems from them at all. Good luck to you. Carol

I was told at my doctors office yesterday that BCBS is not going to cover any bariatric surgery starting January 1, 2006. I hope this doesn't mess you up to. much. Carol
