HELLO to ALL in FLORIDA
Hi there
I've only been on this web site for 3 weeks and just found out how to check local messageboard.
I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. I did okay eat little turkey, gravy and little taste of veggies.
I had 2 bites of pie and that was it.
I'm hoping to hear from anyone to share their ideas or talk about issues.
I had my surgery on 8/15/05 and lost 73 lbs to date.
Let me know how you are doing.
Happy Sunday
Priscilla
Congratulations Priscilla. Glad you are doing well. You've had fantastic weight loss since August.
I will soon be 2 years post op (12-15). Hangin' in around 118 (which is below any of my goals). I ate a little of the holiday foods and surprisingly, was glad to get back to my "routine" protein foods./shakes on Friday.
Welcome to the Florida board.

Priscilla,
Congratulations on your success.
I'm doing well. I've lost 154 pounds since 1/19/05. I went from a 5X to a size 18.
My issue has always been sweets and volume. I haven't had sweets since surgery but I have had a problem with volume. My normal pattern is to eat very quickly, I often feel like if I don't eat it fast it will be taken away...which is odd since that's never happened to me! When I do what I'm suppose to and eat slowly I get the signal that I'm full and I stop. When I eat quickly and don't get the signal that's when I feel sick and sometimes vomit.
I do well with my vitamins and fluids, pretty well with protein and I workout 3X a week with weights and cardio.
All in all, things are great! My biggest concern is that I have 77 more pounds to lose and only 8 months before the 18 month window is over.

HI there Penny! You're doing great - keep up the good work. I had surgery on 9/29/04 and have lost 128 lbs to date. The secret is to follow the surgeon's orders, drink water, eat proteins, and exercise. It's a work in progress for the rest of your life forget about the 18 month window...you need to make those changes now and work on making them permanent as your procedure is permanent (as mine is). I don't plan on changing my habits after the supposed 18 month window..I mean I know your body's loss will slow down but it's a work in progress and you can safely continue to do it. Being on OH has helped me tremendously keep on track and that is what is most important...keeping on track. Keep up the good work. I'm not much a turkey loving person so I just had 2 small slivers of turkey and a bit of rice and nothing else..and I was just fine.
Hey my Florida buddy!!! I was up your way last night, on Pines Blvd, but unfortunately it was for a very sad reason. My coworker's son was killed on Thanksgiving day in a motorcycle accident. Once I heard the news on Friday, Thanksgiving weekend was pretty bad.
Thanksgiving day I did pretty well though. We went up to my kids' godparents house, she always does a maniac Thanksgiving, both Cuban and American style. (we were in Silver Lakes). Anyway, I had some homemade turkey soup (awesome), a few bites of black beans and a couple bites of dark meat turkey, then 3 tiny bites of sugar free pumpkin pie (didn't eat any crust). The stuffings looked SO good but I figured not this year - next year I could have a little.
Thanksgiving day was my 6 week mark, and I've lost 34 lbs since surgery day, pretty exciting. The 34 lbs is not what has me so thrilled tho - the fact that I'm weighing 255.5 and I haven't been below 260 in 15 years!!
I think I'm going to flip my wig when I get to 199! I had shrimp for the first time Sat night, mmmmmm it was good, had them again tonight!
Work has been nuts, but what else is new!
Sorry I haven't been in touch, hope all is well with you and glad you found the Fla board!! Take care!! Much love and hugs, Carol V
