HELP, does anyone out here have insurance with Humana through Broward sheriff's office. I am trying to get approved for RNY @ cleveland clinic weston and that is my insurance. My paperwork was submitted on Nov 2 and still no answer yes or no. I am going crazy mainly because I called several times over the summer to be sure was covered benefit, and was told YES everytime i called. Well it is stated in the policy that it is something that additional paperwork must be submitted for as a benefit, but it is also listed as an exclusion. UGH... HELP. I checked the insurance policies at my work today and was told that it is an exclusion for all 3 there. So that doesn't help either.

Leeann, Waiting is the hardest part! But it may take a while for them to review the paperwork and make a decision. You could call them to verify they have actually received everything and what the status is...that is, if you havent called already. Typically the "additional paperwork required" is all the medical records, test results or supervised diet info, but every insurance company has their own red tape. The policy is always hard to interpret, so keep calling and if it is denied...appeal! Hang in there! Amy
