Bad Sternum Pain

Hi have had pain each night right below the sternum and it is so bad.... I take prevacid in the am but then take one at night now when this pain arises Does anyone have this sort of pain. Not sure what it is and why I have it but it is new this week Thanks if u can help me Sue

Sue, I get this too and it took me a while to determine it stemmed from diet lemonade, or anything with too much acid in it. I will never forget driving with my neice and thinking I was going to have to pull over because it hurt so bad. I can't guarantee that is what is causing your pain, but after a few bouts of it I realized it happened after I drank Diet Lemonade or eat tomato sauce, so I figured it was the acid. I still get it on occasion, but not often enough to take something regularly for it. Good luck with it, I know how miserable it can be Amy

I agree with the other posts, check on the gallbladder, because that is terrible pain, the acid pain is bad too, but the previcid should help that. The only other thing could be a duodonal ulcer. I had all of the above, but am much better now! Keep us posted. blessings, Tami

Suzanne, I had have everything listed in the posts as well as Costochondritis which is inflamation. Found it existed severIal years ago during a hospital stay. When I had surgery in Feb it started to act up for about 3 months because I was vomitting quite a bit. Pain was awful and scary but it wasn't a heart attack which was suspected. If I overwork exercise or list heavy things it acts up but eventually goes away. Let us know what you find out.
