I'M SUCH A LOSER! AND ALIVE!
Hello all. This will be short since I feel like I have been hit by a bus. I am alive and home from the hospital. I had some problems but I am ok now. I want to thank everyone for you prayers, well wishes and unending support. A special thanks to Red (charlotte), JoEll (32 flavors) and Tami L for constantly checking on me through my dad and husband. Everyone on this board has been angels to me.
Well my surgery was last Wed and went ok. My liver was too enlarged so Dr.Murr had to do the Open RNY instead of Lap. They also took my gall bladder. That night after surgery the morphine didn't work on me and I was in PAIN. My fever was 102 and I couldn't breathe well and my heart rate wouldn't come below 135-140. The next morning the did a quick swallow test and Dr.Murr didn't like what he saw. SOOOO...the did a 2nd surgery and reopened me. Thank God they found nothing. No Leaks, No Blocks. The still don't know what was causing the freak heart rate except maybe the morphine not working. The did confirm I had Pnemonia thus the fever and breathing problems. However...I am home now (well at an apartment we are renting in Clearwater) I will be going home-home to Lake Mary in a few weeks. I feel better as far as the pnemonia goes. The pain this past week has been so completly horrible. OF course my hormones decided to give me the worst menstural period of my life and the runs. I never expect this surgery to be this diffacult and painful. Believe me- I prepared myself for pain too because those of you who know me well know I have experienced pain.Also- my parents have taken good care of me and my dear sweet husband has gone above and beyond the call of his husbandly duty. He is a miracle. He has to be at work back in Maitland through the weekdays while I stay with my folks in Clearwater (about 2 hours away) Well I need a nap now. I probably won't be able to respond to emails for a few days. This email took enough startch out my me. If anyone wants an update just call my dad Ben at 407-314-0068
Thank you all and God Bless
Kim
PS. Protein powders are the nasty things in the world. Even the "good" ones.

Hey Kimberly,
Glad your out of the hospital but sorry about your complications. Hoping and praying that you leave the pain behind soon and that your road to recovery and the journey goes smoothly from this poing on.
Blessing to you,
Lori

PS I use Biochem's Low Carb Ultimate Whey Protien that has no fat, 4 carbs and 20 g of protein. I started using it way before surgery and any others I've tried are too sweet to me. I just can't stand them. This mixes really well with my magic bullet. But you can also use a tupperware shaker mixer if you have that. I use 6 oz of Soy milk, 2 scoops of powder, add 3 to 4 ice cubes and blend in the bullet. I drink 1 a day and it tastes great to me. I get mine at Wild Oats Market. They have a website and there are several new store in the Florida area. They sell them in packate so you can try it before buying a can. Packates are $1.99, small can (15 servings) is $17.99 & large can (over 30 servings) is $35.99 Flavors are Chocolate fudge, Carmel, French Vanilla. I like the chocolate and the French Vanilla. They also have unflavored, but I don't really like it. I ended up using it with a mixure of the vanilla and chocolate to get rid of it. Hope this helps.
Hey Sallykate,
Thanks for the encouragement.
So, girl, how ya doin'? You had me a little worried, but I hope that things are going better for you. How has your journey been since you've been home? Are you getting stronger?
Just take care and heal. Everything else will follow.
I am so happy you made it through to the loosing side. I've been praying for you.
Take care,
Lori

Glad you are doing better. I used to live in Clearwater and spent a lot of time walking the beach at the end of Dunedin Causeway. When you get to feeling better maybe you will be able to find that spot of heaven.
I also had my gallbladder out with my WLS surgery. It caused me some problems but I do not regret anything.
I also did not like the protein drinks and because milk intolerant.
All the pain is worth the gain.
Kim, So happy to hear you are doing better. I know you are in good hands with Dr. M. Had my surgery with him this past Feb., best thing I ever did for myself. Try Unjury Unflavored protein powder. I have been using it since surgery and just mix it with anything I eat. Though I do still use Atkins Drinks and add the Unjury to make sure I get all my protein in.
Kim soooooo glad you are home! Praise God for HIs hand upon you!!!
What a wonderful family you have. I will continue to pray for you has you heal up these next weeks. Yes, you will nap often, but it gets better. You have to work through the anesthesia. Sorry the protein drinks arn't working for you, what are you using? Unjury or premixed? Unjury has an unflavored protein that you can add to drinks you like to drink, maybe that will work for you?
Keep deep breathing and coughing, so help keep those lungs clear. As always I'm only an email away!
hugs and blessings,
Tami
Hi Kim, welcome to the other side. I am so sorry for all the pain you had and are enduring. I had a lot of pain for quite a long time after surgery and while in pain I asked myself many, many times if I had done the right thing. But that was just the pain talking, hun. If you at any point feel that way, remember that it is totally worth it!!! You did the right thing!!!
I think many of us had our periods right after surgery, plus a little run with the bowels (no pun intended!) It is all part of it. Some time from now you will be laughing about it, wearing skinny clothes and prancing through the mall. I PROMISSE!!!
This pain you are feeling now will pass and double up in happiness.
We are all so proud of you!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
All the best to you and your family,
Vivi
