How long will I need to be off?
I don't post to often, just usually read, but I had a question.I know I am getting ahead of myself since I won't even be elligible for surgery until Jan. 11th. But I have always been one to plan ahead. I was wondering how long I might need to ask off from work. I need to make sure I am saving my time. I am planning on having a Lap RNY with Dr. Seiloff. Any responses are sure welcome.

Hi Angie,
Truthfully, I think it varies person to person. I went back part time at 3 weeks, FT at around 5 weeks post op. But, I have a very strenuous job ****upational therapist) that requires a lot of bending, lifting, and I'm on my feet all day for 10 hours. Then, I know some people that have gone back to full time work 1 to 2 weeks post op with no problems.
Good luck!

Angie,
My ex-husband's family is from Quincy. By any chance do you know any of the Parramores?
Anyway, I don't work hard for a living so I only missed 8 days. My surgery was on a Wednesday so of course I stayed out the rest of that week and then the whole following week. It was easy to go back and I felt fine!
I think having the surgery laproscopically vs. open makes a big difference in healing time.
