Hello Rhonda I have First Health Insurance, but my husband's insurance is requesting a minimum of 5 years diet history by pysician's order-which I do not have at all. I have at least 2 years, so that means I would have to wait 3 years for it. so I made a decision to self-pay my surgery. I am considering the Wish center for 10,950.00. You should call your insurance provider and ask them about the criteria you need for WLS. Sorry I don't have much info for you....but I do know with my husband's insurance you have to pass all 5 criterias which is the the BMI, co-morbidities,primary physician approval, diet history and i cna't think of the last one right at this moment...lol...but I hope this was helpful to you and good luck.

Hi Valencia ! Thanks for the info. That really is a bummer ! I don't have even a year of diet history, atleast medically supervised anyway. I don't know what I will do. I sure can not afford to self pay. I wish there was a way to find out what insurance is very good at approving wls. You mentioned the Wish Center ? What is that ? I guess I will call my insurance and ask them straight up what the requirements are maybe they will tell me something different !! Would'nt that be nice? I wonder if First Health has more then 1 group or if its all the same?? Oh well, what let me know how your doing and also about the Wish Center.. Thanks Again and take care !!!!!

Hi Rhonda Try to call your insurance provider and get all the requirements you need to get approved, it may be different from mine. Some employers have restictions and then at times they have these silly rules to prevent you from wanting to do it. Now, the Wish Center is a weight loss center that performs bariatric surgeries. In San Antonio,Texas they have a deal for 10,950 for the lapband procedure. I think it is www.wishcenter.com- but check it out. Some folks went to Mexico-but my husband does not want me to do that so I am thinking about the Wish Center in Texas. Give it some thought...my best friend is going to Texas in December for her surgery. Keep your head up and check to see if your insurance will approve your surgery.
